I grew up in Woodstock, New York in the 1970’s. As a child I used to go and visit the city all the time with my family. The city was very different then, much more loose and real. Those memories are part of me.
Two summers ago I returned to New York City with my own family, my husband and two sons. I decided I needed to sketch the city… as I love cities, and in particular New York City, so how could I refrain? Thus was born the first of my fabric sketchbooks. The idea first came to me because I wanted something easy to carry, something I could roll up and put it in my bag as I moved around. Then it occurred to me; a fabric book!
A sketchbook is a medium of expression that everyone is familiar with. It’s something people understand. A sketchbook allows me the freedom to express different sides of things with every turn of the page. It is multi-dimensional and personal, it is a story in pictures, it is something I can show the world. It is an open-book!
This version of New York City is a deluxe, original version of this title.
